My first goal for the new year was to start a campaign for clean water with charity:water. If you haven't heard of this non-profit, definitely check out their site. I caught a chat session with charity:water Experience Manager, Kaitlyn Jankowski and simply fell in love with the experience strategy and involvement of the individual in fundraising efforts for sharing clean water to third world communities.
I'd been discussing options with a friend trying to figure out the best way to raise money for this cause. He suggested that I try something new. So I decided to create one 4x4" quilt square for every $10 donated via my campaign: https://my.charitywater.org/liquid-stitch.
Ultimate goal: $3,000 in the 80 days that the campaigns last (ends 3/30/15).
While that's a bit daunting, I figure I've gotten $160 in 48 hours, enough to give fresh water to 5 people and that's amazing. If I get anymore, that's just cherry.
Once I've completed the quilt, I'll draw names from the list of donors and one lucky, giving person will get a handmade quilt from yours truly. I'm very excited about it.
